1 - My browser just hangs when I try to download the ZIP files, why.? Back to Top

Be sure to download the ZIP file to your computer BEFORE you open it.

 

Do NOT try to open it directly from the site. After logging in simply right+click (apple+click) on any 'Download' button and choose the following to suite your browser:

 

Firefox - 'Save Link As'

IE 8 - 'Save Target As'

Safari - 'Download Linkes File As'

2 - What can I use your music files for, what is acceptable use? Back to Top

Most of our clients use our music for synchronization in such multimedia applications as TV/Radio productions, films, website background music, CD Rom, music on hold, corporate video, video games, presentations etc.

3 - How long does my music license last? Back to Top

Your music license lasts for 10 years. If you need a longer license simply purchase a new membership to Q-Music.

4 - Do I get a VAT / TAX receipt? Back to Top

Our company is based in BC, Canada. We only charge taxes to Canadian customers.

5 - Can I resell your music? Back to Top

You can incorporate our music into a multimedia presentation for your client but you cannot resell our music in any way that would be competitive to us. For example, if you are a provider of Music on Hold systems you are NOT licensed to resell our music to your customers. If however, you are the end user of Music on Hold for your own business telephone lines then you would of course be licensed for this usage as a member of Q-Music.

 

If you produce commercials for TV or Radio and use our music you are fully entitled to use our music in your clients productions. Your client is not required to purchase their own license from Q-Music.

6 - I need to submit cue sheets to a broadcasting organization, how do i do this? Back to Top

We can do this for you. Simply use our contact form to let us know the full details of your production that is to be aired and we will contact the relevant PRO for you.

7 - What is a synchronization license? Back to Top

This is also sometimes referred to as a "synch" license and it allows you to use a recording of a musical work in audio-visual form: for example, as part of a film, video, television program, commercial, CD-ROM or web site. The music is synchronized, or recorded, in timed relation with the audio or visual images. When you become a member of Q-Music you are licensed to synch our music to your visual production and broadcast it.

8 - What is a performance license? Back to Top

A public performance license is something that a broadcaster needs in order to be able to legally broadcast copyrighted music. The term broadcaster applies to TV or Radio station/networks, music on hold systems, public exhibitions, in store music, theatres. In most cases these types of organizations already have public performance licenses in place.

Our music downloads files are full CD quality WAVE files at 16 bit stereo at 44.1 kHz. Our WAVE files are packed into ZIP files for faster and easier downloading.

10 - Q-Music is a UK site but your company is based in Canada, what gives? Back to Top

 

Back in the 1990's Q-Music HQ started in Yorkshire, Great Britain. In 2007 our HQ was relocated to BC, Canada but our site domain was so well established that we continue to trade using that domain.

11 - What happens when my membership expires, do I need to rejoin to continue using the music I downloaded? Back to Top

 

If you have used our music in a project such as Film or TV you can continue to use that music even after your membership has expired. You will not be automatically re-billed. You can extend or renew your membership at any time.

12 - Can I download any track during my membership or only 'selected' tracks?

 

As long as your account is still active you can download any track that you like regardless of your membership type.
